With the deadline for 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on horizon, global community is forging a pathway through ever-more complex ecosystem to 2030. Whilst household-scale AD systems have seen significant attention, and commercial scales remain significantly under-researched. This paper aims explore state-of-the-art in energy access, smart metering, presents three of system delivery models which can potentially unlock meaningful pathways access completion SDG7. We achieve this two-phase qualitative methodology: first, an in-person participatory market development workshop Malawi, second, by leveraging experts’ knowledge Uganda Malawian biogas sector develop case studies that illustrate model. Our findings analyse these models, exploring disconnection between digester size model, overcoming model weaknesses blended approaches role digitalisation, importance tailoring specific contexts. Ultimately, drawing real-world examples concludes proposing novel entire ecosystems or approach implementation blending different implementation.

Improving energy efficiency in the fruit and vegetable sector helps reduce production costs, environmental impact, supports food security, especially during periods of high price volatility. The is energy-intensive, particularly processing activities like drying, freezing, canning, which cost about $800 million annually electricity fuel. This chapter examines consumption patterns technologies that improve at different stages to enhance security minimize impacts.
