ABSTRACT Hazardous inert pollutants, organic dyes, pharmaceuticals, and widespread discharge of pesticide contaminants into water sources due to population growth global industrialization are becoming some the world's most pressing health problems. A novel kind carbonitride or transition metal carbide, known as two‐dimensional (2D) MXene materials, has shown promise in adsorbing several heavy including lead, mercury, chromium, copper. The removal pollutants from watery environments using nanocomposites is reviewed this article. This review highlights different synthesis methods potential improve purification by offering a thorough overview recent developments their application for photocatalytic wastewater treatment. further explores existing constraints, looks at mechanisms behind MXene‐mediated pollutant degradation, suggests future research approaches nanomaterials extensive ecological treatment applications.
