The steel manufacturing industry is a major source of global air pollution, with sintering processes contributing over 70% emissions, primarily carbon monoxide (CO), significant uncontrolled pollutant. This study explores Mn-Cu bimetallic catalysts as cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to noble metal-based systems, addressing the urgent need for efficient CO oxidation catalysts. different Mn/Cu molar ratios were synthesized via hydrothermal methods systematically characterized using XRD, XPS, BET, H2-TPR, etc., assess their physicochemical properties catalytic performance. Mn4Cu1 catalyst demonstrated highest activity, achieving complete conversion at 175 °C. performance attributed its optimal ratio, high specific surface area, abundant oxygen vacancies, superior redox properties. catalyst’s enhanced further supported by low reduction temperature Mn3+ Cu+ content, which promote electron transfer activation. These findings highlight crucial role in optimizing offer valuable insights designing high-efficiency, low-cost reduce emissions industrial applications.
