Abstract
Green
technologies
represent
promising
strategies
for
mitigating
carbon
emissions
and
combating
global
warming.
However,
their
implementation
in
civil
industrial
applications
is
not
without
risks,
as
intrinsic
uncertainties
latent
safety
concerns
can
threaten
effective
deployment.
To
quantitatively
evaluate
the
trade‐off
between
environmental
benefits
issues,
this
work
develops
an
innovative
methodological
approach.
This
approach
aims
to
determine
risk–benefit
profile
of
emerging
green
solutions
through
definition
calculation
a
new
key
performance
indicator,
risk
CO
2
avoided
index
(RCAI).
By
doing
so,
it
provides
comprehensive
understanding
effectiveness
technology
serves
powerful
tool
supporting
stakeholder
decision‐making.
In
order
demonstrate
systematic
nature
versatility
approach,

applied
case
study
involving
capture
storage
(CCS)
system
retrofitted
