Abstract Poultry meat and eggs are considered as major sources of food for rapidly increasing human population across the globe. During rearing poultry, different antibiotics were included in poultry diets sub therapeutic doses to attain improvements growth performance. Recently, use production has been one reasons behind emergence antibiotic resistance pathogens. The pressing issue led complete or partial bans on promoters many parts world. Moreover, there have increased concerns among consumers about residues products. These administrative an incidence bacterial disease outbreaks thus compromising performance, welfare, economic outcomes producers. This ultimately attracted attention researchers find alternative strategies that could replace bring production, health, safety benefits systems. non-antibiotic mainly include probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, phytogenic substances, organic acids, antimicrobial peptides, enzymes, bacteriophages, egg yolk antibodies. Inclusion these solutions demonstrates promising results terms performance birds’ health. demonstrated through nutrient absorption, proliferation beneficial bacteria, reduction pathogenic species, metabolites serve energy intestinal epithelial cells host, positive modulation immune responses. Apart from reducing colonization species also exhibited satisfactory efficacy foodborne pathogens like Salmonella Campylobacter jejuni which cause illness population. In this paper, we reviewed studies evaluated effects types poultry. A description mechanism action, advantages, disadvantages gut health parameters discussed paper.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of low molecular weight Acanthopanax polysaccharides on simulated digestion, probiotics, and intestinal flora broilers in vitro. The experiments were carried out by H2O2-Vc degradation polysaccharides, vitro digestion digestive performance with different weights, probiotic evaluation lactobacilli bifidobacteria, anaerobic fermentation high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA genes impact broilers, short-chain fatty acids intestines determined GC-MS method. results showed that polysaccharide (ASPS) was 9,543 Da, weights ASPS-1 ASPS-2 reduced 4,288 Da 3,822 after degradation, particle sizes, PDIs, viscosities also significantly decreased. has anti-digestive properties better properties. addition regulates structure microorganisms regulating fecalibacterium produce acids, promoting colonization beneficial bacteria such as fecalibacterium, paraprevotella diminishing prevalence detrimental Fusobacteria. Interestingly group found higher levels Paraprevotella, which degraded trypsin gut, reducing inflammation, acted a gut protector, influential increasing acetic acid, propionic butyric isobutyric valeric total SCFAs fermented feces. Therefore, can regulate promote production SCFAs, creating possibilities for its use potential prebiotic, is conducive health poultry.

Areca nut extract (ANE) has a variety of pharmacological effects on animals. Here, we investigated the influence ANE slaughter performance and immune function Jiaji ducks. One hundred fifty 42-day-old healthy ducks were randomly divided into 2 groups (5 replicates 15 each), named DCK group (control) DNT (treatment), respectively. Ducks in fed basal diet food supplemented with 0.08 g per kg diet. Additionally, using proteomics, untargeted metabolomics, metagenomics, analyzed impact protein profile spleen, composition plasma metabolites, structure cecal microbiota. The results showed that dietary inclusion significantly increased rate Proteomic analysis revealed 78 differentially expressed proteins spleens ANE-treated birds, including 54 up-regulated 24 down-regulated group, mainly enriched cell adhesion molecules glutathione metabolic pathways. Untargeted metabolomic 117 serum metabolites regulated between groups; meanwhile, KEGG pathway indicated these involved arachidonic acid metabolism, phospholipase D signaling eicosanoids. Furthermore, metagenomic genus Methanobrevibacter was downregulated supplementation group. Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharides (PSPs), plant-derived widely used in the pharmaceutical field, exhibit various biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. However, research on their application chicks remains limited. Therefore, aim of this study is to investigate protective mechanism PSP against liver injury using an LPS-induced inflammatory model. A total 200 one-day-old Hy-Line Brown laying were randomly assigned five groups (40 each): a control group (CON) fed basal diet, LPS group, three receiving low (250 mg/L), medium (500 high (1000 mg/L) doses (PSP250_LPS, PSP500_LPS, PSP1000_LPS, respectively). The experiment lasted 21 days. During period, intraperitoneally injected with 1500 μg/kg days 14, 16, 18, 20, while CON received normal saline. On day 21, organs collected for analysis. results indicated that treatment significantly reduced kidney indices elevated by (p < 0.05) without affecting spleen, thymus, or bursa Fabricius > 0.05). Histological analysis revealed alleviated ballooning degeneration cell swelling hepatocytes. Furthermore, decreased levels ALT AST mitigated increases pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α enhancing level cytokine IL-10 Transcriptome sequencing samples altered expression 10 genes peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway, which regulated intervention. qPCR validation supported these findings. biochemical analyses tissue showed oxidative stress SOD, MDA, NADPH, ROS, H2O2. In conclusion, may alleviate modulating PPAR pathway. These findings provide valuable insights promoting healthy chick rearing ensuring safe supply poultry products.

Abstract This study explored the impact of incorporating Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide (PSP) into broilers’ diets on their growth, serum mineral levels, tibia characteristics, and nutrient digestibility. A total 240 day-old male Ross-308 broiler chicks were randomly divided three experimental groups, each consisting 8 replicates 10 birds. The birds fed supplemented with PSP at levels: 0, 400, 800 mg.kg −1 , denoted as control, 400PSP, 800PSP, respectively. Notably, 800PSP group exhibited a linear improvement in feed conversion ratio weight gain 35 days age. Crude protein calcium digestibility improved (P>0.05) by inclusion. addition did not influence carcass traits, except for relative pectoral muscle, which increased linearly group. Immune organ indexes increase PSP-fed groups. There no notable changes hepatic renal function biomarkers 21 However, age, lipid profile was affected, quadratic reductions concentrations cholesterol, LDL HDL noticed. On day calcium, potassium, iron levels increases Moreover, ash content age quadratically 400PSP In conclusion, content, minerals profile, digestibility, particularly level.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), a subset of organic with carbon chains ranging from one to six atoms in length, encompass acetate, propionate, and butyrate. These compounds are the endproducts dietary fiber fermentation, primarily catalyzed by glycolysis pentose phosphate pathways within gut microbiota. SCFAs act as pivotal energy substrates signaling molecules realm animal nutrition, exerting profound influence on intestinal, immune system, intestinal barrier functions. Specifically, they contibute 60-70% total requirements ruminants 10-25% monogastric animals. have demonstrated capability effectively modulate pH, optimize absorption mineral elements, impede pathogen invasion. Moreover, enhance expression proteins associated tight junctions stimulate mucus production, thereby refining tissue morphology preserving integrity structure. Notably, also exert anti-inflammatory properties, mitigating inflammation epithelium strengthening barrier’s defensive capabilities. The present review endeavors synthesize recent findings regarding role crucial intermediaries between metabolic activities microbiota status porcine cells. It provides comprehensive overview current literature SCFAs’ impact responses mucosa.
