In recent years, global efforts toward sustainable energy have intensified, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and boost efficiency. Heating in winter hot water for hygiene are essential, especially cold climates where heating demands significantly impact household consumption. This study examines a city western Inner Mongolia, characterized by severe climate unique geology. A test system with dual U-shaped buried pipes ground source heat storage extraction was constructed, utilizing two layout schemes. Drilling tests measured formation parameters, highlighting how pipe soil characteristics influence storage. Short-term 5-day cycles cross-seasonal 60-day were tested. Results showed upper suited frequent short-term storage, while lower favored long-term retention. Increasing raised temperature capacity, enhancing thermal stability cycles. However, the capacity improved, loss also rose. Effective pump design regions should consider environmental temperatures, optimization, characteristics, duration achieve stable, efficient operation.
