The carbon emissions trading (CET) policy is a crucial market-based environmental regulatory for managing corporate emissions, thereby assisting China in achieving its peak and neutrality goals. This study examines whether such can boost performance. Based on China’s CET pilot as quasi-natural experiment, this paper employs the difference-in-differences method difference-in-difference-in-differences to analyze data of listed companies regions from 2010 2020. Findings show that has significant positive influence firms’ Notably, while high-pollution benefit substantially, effect relatively weaker compared others. Mechanism analysis shows drives improvements through enhanced management green innovation, government subsidies promote In addition, impact more pronounced state-owned, large-scale, power industry companies; with strong regulations; high executive awareness. These findings provide some insights refining framework enhancing outcomes.

Achieving environmental sustainability has become an urgent priority in the era of rapid digital economic expansion, which presents both opportunities and challenges for sustainable development. This study investigates impact economy (DIE) on (ENS) through dual dimensions industrialization (DII) industrial digitalization (IND), employing wavelet-based quantile-on-quantile regression method to capture quantile dependencies temporal variations. The results reveal that DIE positively impacts ENS long term, while its short-term effects are mixed, with positive at lower higher quantiles but negative mid-range [0.35–0.45] [0.65–0.7]. Specifically, DII exerts a predominantly effect due costs infrastructure turns term as matures, especially [0.85–0.95]. IND, conversely, consistently short- long-term scenarios, highlighting role enhancing efficiency reducing emissions. These emphasize need targeted policies, including prioritizing digitalization, developing green infrastructure, adopting phased development strategies maximize benefits.

Introduction: The coupling coordination development among Water Resources Carrying Capacity (WRCC), Urbanization Level (UL), and Economic Development (EDL) is a critical indicator for regional socio-economic ecological sustainability. Although existing studies on WRCC are abundant, in-depth study the evolution law of its influence mechanism still lacking. Methods: This proposes an innovative integrated model combining Technique Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), degree (CCD) analysis, nonlinear polynomial regression, dynamically assess interplay WRCC, UL, EDL in Sichuan Province, China from 2010 2019. Key innovations include: First, hybrid weighting method balance objectivity expert knowledge evaluating EDL, integrating entropy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Second, dynamic CCD capturing multi-system synergies regression framework quantifying interaction effects. Results Discussion: exhibited wavy upward trend, peaking at 0.60 2018 2019, with spatial characteristics “strong west, weak east, stable center.” shows trend lagging coordination, basic (0.4–0.5 2010–2014) full (0.6–0.8 2018–2019), 18 cities surpassing 0.6. Regression analysis revealed that predominantly driven interactions between systems, R2 0.973, where WRCC-EDL synergy exerted strongest influence, coefficient 0.780. provides scientific foundation optimizing water resource management fostering sustainable urbanization-economy-resource ecologically fragile yet rapidly developing regions.
