The European Union (EU) is paving the way toward “Vision Zero”, a future goal of eliminating road fatalities and severe injuries. Railway level crossings are critical safety hotspots where rail traffic intersect present unique challenge in balancing both users while ensuring efficient flow. Collisions at these account for significant proportion railway-related EU, underscoring need targeted interventions. This article explores impact signal preemption strategies on operational performance railway through microsimulation analysis.
