Internet use is accelerating in rural communities of developing countries. Although much attention has been devoted to the effects on subjective well-being, income growth, poverty reduction, digital financial inclusion, and social connections these communities, little known about how it affects their indebtedness. This paper bridges this gap by investigating association between household debt China. We a conditional mixed process model instrumental-variable-based causal mediation framework analyse 2017 China Household Finance Survey data. The results show that are positively associated: 5,370 yuan higher among users than non-users. Using increases through its consumption investment spending. Targeted initiatives help residents gainfully utilize improve well-being should be implemented. Reducing the urban–rural income gap stands as a pivotal factor in attaining sustainable economic development. Policymakers and researchers have focused on whether digital inclusive finance can narrow gap. Utilizing provincial-level panel data from 31 regions China, this paper empirically tests impact of across different areas specifically analyzing mediation effect rural loan availability.
