Bitcoin as a financial asset: a survey

Abstract Since its introduction as a decentralized digital currency for peer-to-peer transactions, Bitcoin’s role in financial markets has undergone significant evolution. We employ bibliometric analysis to explore research trends Bitcoin, identifying two primary perspectives the recent economic literature: Bitcoin speculative asset and safe-haven asset. The nature of is evident through high volatility frequent price jumps, largely influenced by rapid shifts investor sentiment attention, which create both risks opportunities traders. Conversely, exhibits characteristics due asymmetric tail dependence negative correlation within certain classes.
