ABSTRACT We estimate the U.S. potential to convert biomass into liquid hydrocarbons for fuel and chemical feedstocks, assuming massive low‐carbon external heat hydrogen inputs. The is first a carbon feedstock only secondarily an energy source. This analysis done three estimates of available derived from 2023 Department Energy/U.S. Agriculture “Billion‐Ton Report” two augmented cases with maximum annual production 1326, 4791, 5799, 7432, 8745 million barrels diesel equivalent per year five cases. Constraints, such as assuring long‐term soil sustainability by recycling nutrients some back soils, result in being 70%–80% these numbers. currently consumes about 6900 year. Long‐term hydrocarbon consumption are between 50% 75% current consumption. Dissolved hydrogen is a critical factor in maintaining the delicate balance among microbial species that drive anaerobic digestion. Since previous findings have demonstrated correlation between dissolved concentration and volatile fatty acid (VFA) levels, we propose to evaluate use of digestate as an alternative traditional VFA measurements. The aim determine whether could serve faster, more accurate, efficient indicator process instability An integral part this task also involves addressing technical challenge identifying suitable sensor meets our requirements. In study, evaluated ratio Total Inorganic Carbon potential stability indicator, Volatile Fatty Acids/Total (VFA/TIC), referred Flüchtige Organische Säuren/Totales Anorganisches Carbonat (FOS/TAC). single-stage digestion was carried out Terrafors IS rotary drum bioreactor for 150 days at average temperature 40 °C organic load 0.092 kg m−3 d−1. Corn silage dosed on weekdays substrate. With theoretical retention time 45 days, biogas production 0.219 Nm3kgVs−1 with CH4 content 31.6% achieved. values determined VFA/TIC ranged from 0.22 5.66, highest obtained when reactor overloaded. 0.005–0.196 mg dm−3. Pearson coefficient 0.337 Spearman 0.468. amperometric microsensor has proven be unsuitable field applications due its lack sensitivity short lifetime. proposed TIC did not prove significantly effective than established indicator.

A strategy allowing for the application of orange waste (OW) in anaerobic co-digestion with municipal sewage sludge (MSS) has been proposed. For this purpose, introduction an additional component represented by ice-cream processing (IPW) chosen. The experiment was conducted batch mode at a temperature 37 °C. Four series were conducted: S1—the mono-digestion MSS; S2—two-component MSS and 1.5 g OW; S3—two-component 1.0 IPW; S4—three-component MSS, IPW, OW. obtained results indicate that highest methane production achieved presence IPW two- three-component mixtures (S3 S4). It also accompanied improved kinetics, enhanced organic removal, stable process performance. related yields 407.6 401.6 mL/g VS S3 S4, respectively. In turn, S1 S2, parameter established level 351.3 344.3 VS. Additionally, as compared to (S1), energy profit 54 62% possibility effective management OW recovery digestion (AD).
