Opencast mining has significantly triggered vegetation degradation in many ecologically sensitive regions across the globe. The detailed spatio-temporal information on mining-induced and associated primary production loss are crucial inputs to authorities policymakers frame implement sustainable development programs conserve ecology. Thus, present study aimed decipher cover subsequent productivity losses over Rajmahal Hills Jharkhand (India). Gross Primary Productivity (GPP), Net (NPP), Vegetation Transpiration (VT) datasets were used for analyzing mines-induced productivity. key findings indicated a of by ~340 km2 an expansion area ~54 during 1990–2020. change detection analysis at decadal period revealed that ~3.06 km2, 8.10 22.29 lost only due activity 2000–2010, 2010–2020, 2000–2020, respectively. replacement caused GPP 0.01 tonnes carbon (tC) per day, 0.04 tC/day, 0.09 tC/day; NPP ~1.25 tC, 2.77 7.27 tC; VT 5200 mm/day, 13,630 30,190 mm/day Hence, have alteration sequestration, stock, Hills.

Grassland gross primary productivity (GPP) is an important part of global terrestrial carbon flux, and its accurate simulation future prediction play role in understanding the ecosystem cycle. Machine learning has potential large-scale GPP prediction, but application accuracy impact factors still need further research. This paper takes Mongolian Plateau as research area. Six machine methods (multilayer perception, random forest, Adaboost, gradient boosting decision tree, XGBoost, LightGBM) were trained using remote sensing data (MODIS GPP) 14 factor carried out grassland GPP. Then, flux observation (positions stations) non-flux reference data, detailed evaluation comprehensive trade-offs are on results, key affecting performance explored. The results show that: (1) six highly consistent with change tendency demonstrating applicability prediction. (2) LightGBM best overall performance, small absolute error (mean less than 1.3), low degree deviation (root mean square 3.2), strong model reliability (relative percentage difference more 5.9), a high fit (regression determination coefficient 0.97), closest to bias only −0.034). (3) Enhanced vegetation index, normalized precipitation, land use/land cover, maximum air temperature, evapotranspiration, evapotranspiration significantly higher other determining factors, total contribution ratio exceeds 95%. Understanding the impact of mining on surrounding vegetation gross primary productivity (GPP) is crucial for ecological management areas. Using simple non-iterative clustering (SNIC) and random forest (RF) methods, we mapped Dexing Copper Mine (DCM) at a 30 m spatial resolution with Landsat data from 1991 to 2022. The photosynthesis model (VPM) was selected simulate GPP. Sens slope test Hurst exponent method jointly used reveal spatial-temporal evolution Results showed: (1) SNIC+RF more effective than RF alone. mine area expanded 5.23 km2 24.97 due deforestation; (2) GPP in 53.17% areas has significantly increased. reduction are primarily around open pit tailings; (3) Vegetation loss land cover change −2×1010 gC, −2.7×1010 −2.79×1010 gC 1991-2000, 2000-2012, 2012-2022.

The present study employed Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) based Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) dataset to track vegetation phenological trends in response climate change activity over the Rajmahal Hills India during 2001–2019. Two key metrics (i.e., start of season (SOS), and end (EOS)) were estimated, their long-term studied for each type. findings revealed that (SOS) generally occurred late March (Julian day (JD) 81) early April (JD 97), whilst (EOS) has been predominantly observed 65) 81). Furthermore, SOS EOS most types (except WSV MF) showed a delaying trend 2001–2010 at rate 0.009–0.29 year−1; 0.03–0.33 year−1, respectively. Conversely, all an advancing 2010–2019 0.06–0.24 0.17–0.23 changes different mainly perceived due local (changes precipitation temperature pattern).
