The increasing convergence of the mobility and electricity sectors creates many opportunities challenges around electric vehicle (EV) charging. It is a large interest industry to gain EV drivers’ consent for smart charging facilitate smooth integration EVs into grid maximize miles driven on renewable power. This study assesses preferences potential adopters solutions. Employing choice experiment, this measures extent which under conditions drivers are willing adjust location, duration, mode. Six thousand two hundred forty (6,240) experimental decisions different offers were analyzed. results reveal crucial insights preference structure drivers. Based these findings, recommendations providers win early adopters.

Automotive electrification is a vital component of the carbon-neutrality agenda. To counter influence shrinking public incentives for purchasing electric vehicles (EVs), it crucial to deepen understanding existing users’ use cases and clear barriers potential EV owners in daily usage. this end, our study analyzes an 11-month usage data from large sample EVs, including 3,777 battery EVs (BEVs) 5,973 plug-in hybrid (PHEVs) Shanghai, China. Based on their travel intensity, are clustered into two groups used primarily private commercial purposes. Comprehensive analyses then conducted each group with major findings retrieved as follows: 1) Similar gasoline-car users, BEV users also tend charge when SOC declines certain level; 2) Private BEVs slow charging 69% sessions, whereas fast dominantly 89% occasions; 3) Replacing all remaining gas-based passenger cars Shanghai will result 10-15% surge load power grid; 4) In opposite BEVs, PHEVs small batteries charged less often rely more gas power, large-battery like frequently; 5) PHEVs' utilization can be significantly overestimated using method proposed by Society Engineers, especially sector. Potential EV-related policy implications discussed based empirical findings.
