Amid growing global efforts toward carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), this study investigates the influence of chromium (Cr) content in candidate construction alloys on their corrosion modes kinetics supercritical CO2 (s-CO2)-saturated saline water at 8 MPa 50 °C. The results indicate that with a Cr concentration over approximately 9 wt.%, including P91, 316L, Alloy 800, exhibit satisfactory performance environment. During exposure to s-CO2-saturated water, non-protective FeCO3 layer forms all tested alloys. For containing more than 2 wt.% Cr, an inner Cr-enriched concurrently grows acts as barrier resist environmental attack. integrity outer layers becomes compact uniform least Cr. Pitting is unlikely occur used for s-CO2 or enhanced oil recovery.
