This paper aims to broaden the concept of Net Zero Energy Building (NZEB), assessing its suitability emerging grid-based energy sharing models. The exchange between two buildings with shifted load schedules, namely, a new residential NZEB (prosumer) and an existing school building (consumer), is analysed investigate dynamics. are in Southern Italy, region high solar radiation. model calibrated on measured data study performed by dynamic simulation. The need for large-scale energy storage in the context of renewable electricity production worldwide is evident. Among various methods, thermal stands out. In some them, packed-bed systems play a central role: heat transfer fluid heats up or releases from porous solid that acts as reservoir. This work compiles their application to concepts such concentrated solar power, pumped storage, compressed liquid air storage. Different physical models with diverse refinement degrees corresponding computational schemes comprehensively presented. The global transition to renewable energy sources (RESs) is accelerating combat the rapid depletion of fossil fuels and mitigate their devastating environmental impact.
