This study aimed to enhance the nutrient balance of municipal solid waste (MSW), characterized by a high carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratio, which is critical factor in anaerobic digestion process. The investigation involved addition MSW, rich carbon content, food (FW) with nitrogen content. goal was determine an optimal co-substrate mixing ratio MSW and FW for co-digestion at mesophilic temperatures, aiming improve process stability performance achieve higher biogas yield. experiments encompassed five ratios C/N 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 under conditions laboratory. results indicated that highest specific yield, reaching 827 L/kg VS, attained when feedstock had balanced surpassing 520 vs. obtained from alone. As proportion increased feedstock, production rate decreased. Additionally, explored substrate-to-inoculum (S/I) focusing on 20. Four S/I (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) were examined, revealing 642 occurred 0.5. An accumulation volatile fatty acids (VFAs) observed ratios, attributed lower abundance inoculum microorganisms Overall, findings suggested optimum falls within range 20–25/1, while preferred

Abstract The start-up of large biogas projects required a number inoculum, which need high cost and long time. This study investigated three methods on starting the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) corn stalk. used domesticated cow dung as inoculum feeding frequency included every 2 d (T2), 4 (T4), 8 (T8). results shown that CSTR reactor stalk could be started successfully under different methods. Among them, T4 achieved highest cumulative methane production with 66.93L, was 11.86% 36.15% higher than T2 T8. Compared manure system, microbial diversity in reactors increased. Firmicutes dominant bacterial phyla, Methanosarcina archaea. enrichment corresponded to production.

Abstract High total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) inhibits anaerobic digestion (AD) and cannot be completely eliminated by merely enhancing a stage of AD. This study incorporates TAN‐tolerant inoculum into substrates hydrolyzed Rhizopus mixed agents to simultaneously enhance hydrolysis‐acidogenesis‐methanogenesis. The results show 16.46‐fold increase in CH4 production under TAN‐inhibited (6870.97 mg L−1) conditions, even exceeding the AD without TAN 21.10%. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a preferred method for food waste (FW) treatment due to its sustainability and potential production of renewable bioenergy. However, the accumulation volatile fatty acids (VFAs) ammonia often destabilizes AD process, managing digestate byproduct poses additional challenges. This study investigates use co-pyrolysis biochar synthesized from rice straw (DRB) enhance methane efficiency. DRB addition increased cumulative yield by 37.1%, improved VFA conversion efficiency, achieved 42.3% higher NH3-N-removal rate compared control group. The COD-removal was 68.7% throughout process. Microbial analysis revealed that selectively enriched Fastidiosipila Methanosarcina, promoting direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) yield. These findings highlight DRB’s efficiency support closed-loop resource utilization.
