Abstract To further explore the application of Schiff bases in latent fingerprint detection, two containing ─N═CH─ fragment at different positions on pyridine skeleton, which py‐3‐TPA with 3‐position and that locating 2‐position for py‐2‐TPA , were synthesized. Both displayed solvent‐dependent behaviors organic solvents polarities emission spectra, their solid state luminescent under a UV lamp, both could be well explained by time‐dependent density functional theory calculations, aggregation‐induced properties THF/water mixtures observed. Furthermore, surfaces three substrates visualize using compounds, clearly identify levels fingerprints features details. This work establishes foundation development Schiff‐base fluorescent dyes practical field detection.

Abstract To further explore the candidate materials for latent fingerprints detection, two triphenylamine‐based salicylaldimine compounds containing phenoxazine moiety ( TPA‐PXZ ) and carbazole unit TPA‐Cz were designed successfully synthesized, respectively. They exhibited intramolecular charge transfer transitions aggregation‐induced emission properties. Based on quantum chemical calculation results, it was found that had twisted spatial configuration, which responsible emission. Meanwhile, morphology of nano‐aggregates in THF/water mixtures with 60 % 80 water content tested. our delight, developers prepared by both used detection surface glasses, they emitted purple fluorescence, as well distinct fingerprint imaging could be easily distinguished level 1–3 details. We believe are promising detection.
