Rice husk ash is an important waste of agricultural industry that, within the framework circular economy, has been easily converted into a sustainable sorbent material. This was tested in this work for pre-concentration perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonic (PFOS), representative perfluoroalkyl substances as probe environmental pollutants waters, with HPLC-MS/MS quantification. The preparation involves rapid microwave-assisted oxidation followed by hydrothermal treatment, which studied using 22 design experiments. final material thoroughly characterized its affinity to target analytes solid-phase extraction waters wastewaters. Recoveries range 67–113 % (RSD < 11 %, n = 3) were achieved at environmentally relevant concentrations (10, 50, 100 ng L-1) reusable least ten consecutive extractions. Good linearity (R2 0.9997) observed, method quantification limit water sample 10 L-1 that allows analysis PFOA PFOS below established limits. evaluated greenness AGREEprep SPMS metrics, it then applied actual samples from Northern Italy.
