Sustainable development in impoverished areas is still a global challenge owing to trade-offs between and conservation. There are large poverty-stricken (PSAs) China, which overlap highly with ecologically sensitive areas. China has made great efforts alleviate poverty over the years. The coordinated relationship social economy environment PSAs, however, remains under-recognized. This study developed county-level index system encompassing socioeconomic environmental sectors of China's PSAs. integrated indexes two were reveal spatial-temporal patterns coupling coordination degree (CCD) levels calculated assess relationships them. CCD indicated increasingly conditions PSAs from 2000 2020. Meanwhile, although achieved considerable growth rate 58.4%, was mildly improved 19.6%, instead reduction. have gap compared non-poor areas; perform better index. Overall, increased 2020 can be attributed long-term, large-scale, targeted interventions reduction Further, benefiting geodiversity we identified four models include advantageously, sustained, periodic, limited effective models, on basis change patterns. provide valuable experience for rest world tackling similar challenges.

Exploring the spatial patterns and driving factors of cropland ecosystem services production-living-ecology are essential to implementing zoning management optimization, especially in major grain-producing regions. In this study, we first developed an evaluation system for evaluating Jianghan Plain (JHP). We then revealed various integrated index based on multi-source data. Additionally, employed regionalization with dynamically constrained agglomerative clustering partitioning algorithm (REDCAP) delineate agricultural function zones. Finally, used redundancy analysis reveal each functional zone. Results indicated that (1) high habitat quality, soil retention, carbon storage exhibited similarity 2020, pattern west low east, water conservation showed opposite distribution pattern, while culture recreation value were concentrated northern part, grain production was observed southern region. Overall, displayed a north–south distribution, higher values north lower south. (2) results index, six zones identified, including cropland, ecology living cropland. (3) mainly influenced by population density, night light evaporation JHP, trade-offs between function, other functions as well zone ecosystems. The findings hold significant implications sustainable development

Abstract Aquaculture is a growing industry with an annual growth rate that far superior to the population rate. Most production occurs in lower‐ and middle‐income countries, therefore, they can improve efficiency modernize systems increase exports earn foreign exchange earnings for economic social development. The institutional arrangements should be part of mechanisms ensure sustainable aquaculture growth, through participation all stakeholders. Sustainability possible good dynamic governance which embraces basic principles governance, equity, accountability, efficiency, predictability. Over past decade, several countries made changes implemented regulations their action plans productivity, stakeholders profited from along value chain. Abstract Extensive efforts have been dedicated to deciphering the interactions associated with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, these developments are hampered by a lack of efficient strategies avoid beneficial synergies being offset harmful trade-offs. To fill gaps, we used causal diagnosis and network analysis methods construct 1302 directed networks SDGs for 31 provinces in China from 2000 2020. We observed dramatic offsetting effect SDG trade-offs 2020, approximately 27% trade-off indicator pairs turning into about 25% synergy our findings suggested that prioritising progress high-frequency indicators virtuous cycles could multiply positive systemic effects SDGs. Moreover, controlling transition passive active remains challenge advancing holistically.

Unraveling the complexity of 17 interacting sustainable development goals (SDGs) is crucial for their achievement. Empirically revealing dimensions SDGs helps generalize dominant features and better understand drivers. Here, using a database 166 countries' progress toward achieving each individual SDG, we found that about 70% variability national SDG performance can be captured by three dimensions: socioeconomic at expense resource climate, environment, equality. Moreover, these are mainly affected economy; as gross domestic product (GDP) per capita increases, first dimension increases monotonically, environment decreases then inequality decreases. Our findings indicate dim prospect eventually all because conflicts between economic growth climate under current paradigm, highlighting importance transformation.

As one emerging global city-regions China Global South, Yangtze River Delta (YRD) plays an increasingly nonnegligible role globalized economy telecoupling social-ecological systems (SESs). Considering well-known importance representativeness, YRD has been regarded as appropriate experimental site integrated research on geographical at subnational scale. This paper tries to establish theoretical practical linkages regional integration development scale based goals (SDGs), Chinese contexts, a literature review relevant researches. We argue that future should pay more attention interdisciplinary, transregional, multi-scale attributes issues related YRD. The following agendas, such linking SDGs integrative development, analyzing SESs, assessing region scale, investigating different scales, exploring applicable governance structures institutions, well applying multi-source data interdisciplinary methodologies, call scholarly attention. hope this could be initial motion expand enrich research.
