Fruits and vegetables contain numerous nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, phenolic compounds, dietary fibers. They reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases risk certain chronic diseases, improve antioxidant anti-inflammatory capacity. Moreover, melatonin was found in various fruits species. Melatonin acts a multifunctional compound to participate physiological processes. In recent years, many advances have been that is also appraised key modulator on post-harvest preservation. usually elicit reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation accumulation. Excess ROS stimulate cell damage, protein structure destruction, tissue aging, thereby reducing their quality. Numerous studies find exogenous application modulates homeostasis by regulating enzymes non-enzymatic antioxidants systems. Further evidences reveal often interacts with hormones other signaling molecules, ROS, nitric oxide (NO), hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S), etc. Among these ‘new’ crosstalks especially H O produced RBOHs, are provided preservation this review. It will provide reference for complicated integration both signal molecules future study.

Abstract The postharvest lifespan of horticultural products is closely related to loss nutritional quality, accompanied by a rapid decline in shelf life, commercial value, and marketability. Melatonin (MT) application not only maintains quality but also delays senescence products. This paper reviews biosynthesis metabolism endogenous MT, summarizes significant effects exogenous MT on products, examines regulatory mechanisms MT‐mediated effects, provides an integrated review for understanding the positive role delay maintenance. As multifunctional molecule, coordinates other signal molecules, such as ABA, ETH, JA, SA, NO, Ca 2+ , regulate ripening senescence. Several metabolic pathways are involved regulation during senescence, including synthesis transduction plant hormones, redox homeostasis, energy metabolism, carbohydrate degradation pigment cell wall components. Moreover, regulates expression genes antioxidant systems, generation, fruit firmness colour, membrane integrity, storage. Consequently, could become emerging eco‐friendly preservative extend life maintain

Abstract Global crop productivity is consistently threatened by cadmium (Cd) soil contamination. Crosstalk between nitric oxide (NO) and melatonin (MT) in enhancing resilience to heavy metal stress has gained significant attention. Here, we evaluated the joint effect of sodium nitroprusside (SNP; 200 μM as NO donor) MT (100 μM) on Cd‐stressed eggplant ( Solanum melongena L.). Cd significantly reduced plant growth, biomass yield, leaf pigments, biochemical properties. Conversely, SNP, MT, particularly their combined (SNP + MT) application toxicity enhanced growth physio‐biochemical traits eggplants. For instance, at 50 mg kg −1 soil, SNP increased root (41.6, 30, 47%), total chlorophyll (30.7, 26.3, 46%), soluble protein (20.5, 17.6 37%) RLWC (23, 17.5, 29%) over respective control. Furthermore, p ≤ 0.05) levels EL, H 2 O , proline, MDA 54.5, 66, 61 70%, respectively, interplay antioxidant defense responses tissues under stress. Besides, upregulated transcript POD SOD CAT GPX genes eggplants applications improved essential nutrient cation homeostasis shoot Moreover, lessens metal‐induced decreasing uptake, translocation (TF) bioconcentration (BCF) factors. Conclusively, these findings validated beneficial defensive interaction regulating tolerance However, further research needed uncover underlying mechanisms synergistic effects.
