The global shortage of high-quality forage has significantly constrained the development animal husbandry. Leveraging complementary effects rapeseed and hairy vetch intercropping can enhance yield quality; however, underlying mechanisms overyielding in rapeseed–hairy systems remain unclear. Over two years field experiments, three cropping systems—rapeseed sole cropping, intercropping—were investigated to assess on root stem morphology, canopy light distribution, leaf photosynthetic physiology, nitrogen metabolism. Our results demonstrated that increased biomass crude protein by 14.3–20.0% 30.7–92.8%, respectively, compared cropping. Intercropping enhanced biomass, increasing lateral 81% It also improved anatomical traits, including cortex area (58.8–80.7%), thickness (25.1–38.3%), number vascular bundles (18.0–37.3%), bundle length (17.8–18.4%), perimeter (6.7–18.7%), (34.6–63.9%), breaking strength (25.7–76.6%). Additionally, optimized vertical interception, reduced activity antioxidant enzymes (CAT, POD, SOD) reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, activities glutamine synthetase nitrate reductase, stomatal rates leaves both crops. Structural equation modeling revealed that, system, population lodging resistance directly promoted metabolism rates, ultimately biomass. In summary, strengthened anatomy penetration, resistance, metabolism, thereby boosting quality. supportive role system elucidates intercropping, offering a theoretical framework for optimizing production worldwide.

Sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) is a highly valued fruit crop in Italy, but its production challenged by environmental stresses, particularly rain-induced cracking, which significantly affects yield and quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness foliar applications calcium potassium salts reducing cracking enhancing overall quality shelf-life sweet cultivar “Regina”. experiment conducted commercial orchard Piedmont, where application studied across various parameters, including shoot growth, yield, incidence, post-harvest during 14-day storage period at 2 °C 75% RH. Results showed that treatments improved vegetative growth increased proportion marketable within desirable Ø 28 mm size category. Moreover, treated fruits exhibited reduced weight loss, higher firmness storage. Antioxidant activity anthocyanin content were also better preserved cherries since day harvest. These findings indicate macro- micro-nutrients can mitigate improve performance cherries, providing practical strategy increase both regions with adverse weather conditions.

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is an herbaceous species that traditionally consumed across the world due to its nutraceutical quality, boasting anticancer, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic properties. These traits render purslane attractive wild edible for research commercial exploitation. The current study examined effect of different nitrogen (N) concentrations (100–200 mg L−1; as N100, N200) in combination with levels (decreased 0.66-fold: dec, recommended 1-fold: rec, or increased 1.5-fold: inc) phosphorus (P; 47–70–105 L−1) potassium (K; 250–350–525 nutrient solution (NS) used hydroponic film technique (NFT) cultivation. N200_PKinc NS resulted improved crop growth compared N200_PKrec NS, suggesting a positive correlation between optimal N (i.e., 200 P K (105 525 L−1, respectively). Plants grown revealed decreased antioxidant activity (e.g., DPPH, FRAP, ABTS), phenols flavonoids, while simultaneously total soluble solids levels. mirrored low lipid peroxidation, mainly increase catalase enzymatic activity. Higher use efficiency was observed when both N100_PKinc were applied, resulting higher yield enhanced plant growth, produced plants findings suggest (N200_PKinc N100_PKinc) have potential benefits cultivation purslane, latter offering additional advantages terms produce quality.

This study investigated the optimal strategies for improving sugar biosynthesis in mango fruits. Randomized block design was used experimental treatments. The cultivar “Renong-1” sprayed with five green plant growth regulators, including solutions of SBP (sucrose-based polymers, a new highly efficient and eco-friendly regulator), SPM (sucrose + potassium dihydrogen phosphate microelement fertilizer), TPM (taurine fertilize), PFA (potassium fulvic acid), SOP (seaweed oligosaccharide peptide) at different fruit development stages. Indicators, such as soluble solid content, starch contents, activities 11 enzymes associated metabolism physiologically mature full ripening fruits were evaluated. results showed that solution diluted 100-fold exerted strongest effect on content sweetness value Based linear regression analysis, significant negative correlation observed between activity acid invertase perceived fruits, while other significantly negatively correlated According to multiple (by lars function R) comprehensive A1B3 (spraying one time young stage) selected treatment combination enhancing sweetness, followed by A1B2 first stage second medium maturity) alternative combination.

Echinophora platyloba DC. (Apiaceae) is recognized for its important secondary metabolites and antifungal agents. To evaluate the effects of macronutrient fertilizers on growth parameters essential oils yield E. platyloba, a study was conducted in 2018 at Shahrekord University, Iran. The treatments included individual combined application nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, along with control groups. results revealed that nitrogen significantly influenced biomass accumulation stems, leaves, inflorescences, phosphorus-treated plants showing notable increase leaf weight. Compared to positive control, phosphorus increased oil by 488%, while enhanced 165%. primary compounds identified (E)-β-ocimene, (E)-sesquilavandolol, β-pinene, percentages ranging between 21.3–32.1%, 14.1–42.0%, 2.0–8.8%, respectively. levels γ-decalactone, spathulenol were found be higher potassium than nitrogen. In contrast, limonene, linalool, geraniol, (E)-sesquilavandulol concentrations greater treatment compared treatments. conclusion, fertilization can substantially other treatments, potentially enhancing production per unit area, which supports farmers’ income helps prevent degradation this species natural habitats.
