Maintaining optimal ecological security in Dongting Lake Basin is of great significance to national projects Yangtze River Economic Belt Construction and Protection. Ecological quality the potential associated affecting factors are important contents Basin. In this research, remote sensing index (RSEI) were used analyze temporal spatial variation qualities during 2001–2019 determine factors. Results showed that overall fluctuated 2001–2019. The change intensities among different RSEI levels relative low (absolute values 1 2) mainly changed fair, moderate good levels. Land use/cover, climate (average annual rainfall) human interferences (GDP) Among these factors, areas woody savannas, mixed forests, cropland/natural vegetation mosaics most (RSEI). While other land use/cover (i.e., Croplands, Evergreen Needleleaf Forests, Parmanent Wetlands, Grasslands), also had contributions quality. Specifically, such four average rainfall positively but GDP negatively correlated with conclusion, changes area use types might explain variations These findings will provide significant information for managers make more targeted restoration efforts

Although wetlands provide valuable services to humans and the environment cover a large portion of Canada, there is currently no Canada-wide wetland inventory based on specifications defined by Canadian Wetland Classification System (CWCS). The most practical approach for creating Inventory (CWI) develop remote sensing method feasible areas with potential be updated within certain time intervals monitor dynamic landscapes. Thus, this study aimed create first using Landsat-8 imagery innovative image processing techniques available Google Earth Engine (GEE). For purpose, amount field samples approximately 30,000 surface reflectance images were initially processed several advanced algorithms GEE. Then, random forest (RF) algorithm was applied classify entire country. final step an original CWI map considering five classes CWCS (i.e., bog, fen, marsh, swamp, shallow water) providing comprehensive information regarding location spatial extent in Canada. had reasonable accuracy terms both visual statistical analyses area country that classified (9.985 million km2). overall classification average producer user accuracies exclusively 71%, 66%, 63%, respectively. Additionally, map, it estimated 36% Canada covered wetlands.

Rapid urbanization and population growth have significantly impacted air water quality, exerting adverse effects on both the natural environment human health. While ecosystem health assessment is a crucial aspect of management, smaller-scale implications urban development often been overlooked. This paper addresses this gap by examining relationship between in Qingdao over period 2000–2019. Utilizing Vigor-Organization-Resilience-Service (VORS) model, we evaluated (ESH) while measuring extent through dynamics, economic factors, land size. Our findings indicate declining trend ESH studied period, particularly Chengyang District Huangdao District. Ecosystem vigor experienced most significant decline, dropping from 0.730 to 0.639, followed decrease resilience 0.422 0.394. Concurrently, rate exhibited steady increase, with high levels observed Shinan District, Shibei Licang analysis reveals negative impact health, being predominant factor 2000 2005. Post-2005, expansion construction emerged as major contributing factor. Addressing ecological environmental concerns effective management ecosystems all depend understanding mitigating impacts These hold for government departments tasked managing delicate balance expansion.
