The presence of pesticides in aquatic ecosystems poses significant risks to non-target organisms, necessitating monitoring and environmental risk assessment. This study aimed evaluate the dynamics a hydro-agricultural area with intensive agricultural practices, Mediterranean region (South Portugal). Seasonality location influenced pesticide numbers concentrations, highest levels observed during dry season. Triazines, phenylureas, organophosphates were predominant classes, terbuthylazine, bentazone, terbutryn, diazinon, metolachlor exhibiting detection frequencies (68 % 72 %). Notably, 44 quantified are no longer authorized Portugal, 33 posing high risk. Some insecticides, including imidacloprid, methiocarb, malathion, occasionally detected at concentrations that posed ecosystem (RQ ≥ 1). Irgarol, an algicide used irrigation canals, presented 91 analysed samples. study's distribution profile revealed transportation these compounds from reservoirs hydrants, establishing them as secondary source crop contamination. Additionally, assessment spatial allowed for identification specific pollutants different locations, prioritizing based on their ecotoxicological ecosystems. These findings reinforce importance implementing management measures level areas, helping stop cycle Only this type strategy will make it possible protect water quality, biodiversity health citizens, contributing European Union's objectives improving condition freshwater bodies promoting sustainable use pesticides.

Application of pesticides for enhancement in agricultural production has serious environmental and human health implications. Their inefficient unregulated application is among main reasons their contamination soil, water food systems. organic resides soil amendment one the low cost sustainable option to avoid such pesticide environment. However, complexity interactions with interface that decide fate transport environment needs comprehensive understanding. Therefore focus review provide an in-depth elaboration various components (both virgin amended residues). In addition, factors (from perspective soil) influence are discussed. This will be useful researchers practitioners understanding within intrinsic residue necessary / reduce matrices.

Agrochemicals, which are crucial to meet the world food qualitative and quantitative demand, compounds used kill pests (insects, fungi, rodents, or unwanted plants). Regrettably, there some important issues associated with their widespread extensive use (e.g., contamination, bioaccumulation, development of pest resistance); thus, a reduced more controlled agrochemicals thorough detection in food, water, soil, fields necessary. In this regard, new functional materials for efficient application, detection, removal is priority. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) exceptional sorptive, recognition capabilities, catalytical properties have very recently shown potential agriculture. This Review emphasizes recent advances MOFs agriculture through three main views: environmental remediation, agrochemical release, agrochemicals.
