The decline in soil quality is becoming a significant process of degradation. Optimizing organic fertilizer incorporation practices cropland essential to enhancing crop productivity and health. However, that requires comprehensive understanding yield reaction across an application gradient fertilizer. We investigated the effect on yield, quality, fauna feeding activity from fluvo-aquic soils wheat ( Triticum aestivum )-maize Zea mays ) rotation field. six treatments included were unfertilized N control (UC), traditional chemical (TF, 600 kg ha −1 year ), recommended fertilization (RF, 400 with no rate, low-level 15.0 (RFLO), medium-level 30.0 (RFMO), high-level 45.0 t (RFHO) application, respectively. research findings show increased 26.4%–44.6% for 12.5%–40.8% maize compared RF plots. long-term rate carbon 54.7% 110.6% versus UC plots 27.9%–74.0% (TF RF) treatments, total nitrogen content 41.8% 59.2%, 24.6%–39.2%. inorganic combined significantly enhanced sucrose (30.1%–51.9%), urease (28.4%–38.3%), β-1,4-glucosidase (34.6%–122.4%) activity. Still, nitrite reductase, polyphenol oxidase, catalase lower 27.3%–49.9%, 8.5%–26.3% 23.3%–34.3% than single applications groups. Meanwhile, results showed improved by 35.2%–42.5%, excessive reduced level fauna.

Wide and rapid Spartina alterniflora invasion has threatened the sustainability of coastal wetlands China, a significant impact on sediment biogeochemical cycle. However, effects exotic dissimilatory nitrates (NOx−) reduction processes mechanisms underlying these pathways in mangrove have not been well studied. Here, denitrification (DEN), anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANA) nitrate to (DNRA) rates, contributions (DEN%, ANA%, DNRA%), associated functional genes (nirS, anammox 16S rRNA nrfA) controlling factors were investigated surface sediments (0–5 cm) communities ecotone Zhangjiang Estuary, China. Significant spatial differences DEN, DNRA, DEN%, DNRA% found among different plant (p < 0.05 for all). DEN is dominant pathway NOx− community (87–89 %) (75–78 %), while (41–51 DNRA (36–51 compete with each other community. Organic matter was most dominating factor rates. Without accounting confounding factors, significantly reduced nitrogen retention index (NIRI), causing large amount (N) loss wetlands. We estimated that increased N-loss (831.09 ± 55.16 t N yr−1) but (783.48 37.73 habitats China within last 40 years (1980–2020). Thus, enhances reducing wetlands, which may threaten buffer function wetland pools protection estuarine ecosystems.

Mangrove National Nature Reserves (MNNRs) play an extraordinarily significant role in conserving mangrove forests and their habitats. In China, one-fourth of the total were located MNNRs. Understanding annual spatial distributions conversions these are important for precision conservation rehabilitation efforts. However, to date, land cover maps China's MNNRs still unavailable. Here, we proposed a rapid robust approach produce each time period 2016–2020 based on 10-m resolution Sentinel-2 imagery. The was developed using object-based image analysis, Otsu Random Forest algorithm. Results showed that 1) during 2016–2020, areal extents forest all continuously increased from 5912 ha 6128 ha; 2) obvious increase found Zhanjiang Reserve where by 127 ha, accounted 59% national increases; 3) newly grown mainly converted tidal flats aquaculture ponds. Our could provide basis managing ecosystems supporting implementation Sustainable Development Goals related coastal development.
