Heavy metal (HM) pollution of soils is a globally important ecological and environmental problem. Previous studies have focused on i) tracking sources in HM-contaminated soils, ii) exploring the adsorption capacity distribution HMs, iii) assessing phyto-uptake HMs their ecotoxicity. However, few reviews systematically summarized HM soil-plant systems over past decade. Understanding mechanisms interaction between solid soil components consequently key to effectively controlling remediating pollution. compositions phases are diverse, structures complex, spatial arrangements heterogeneous, all leading formation micro-domains that exhibit different particle sizes surface properties. The various interactions ultimately control speciation, transformation, bioavailability soils. Over decades, extensive application advanced instrumental techniques methods has greatly expanded our understanding behavior organic mineral assemblages. In this review, investigating immobilization by minerals, compounds, microorganisms, associated complexes summarized, with particular emphasis interfacial HMs. addition, for analyzing speciation aggregates natural also discussed. Moreover, we review speciating at mineral-organic micro-scale interfaces. Lastly, developmental prospects research inorganic-organic interfaces outlined. future research, most should be used characterize situ characteristics metals complexes. particular, roles contributions microorganisms complex require significant further investigation.

To make pollution evaluation of potentially hazardous elements in the soil more accurately, regional geochemical baseline concentrations eight (Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Hg, and Pb) were established Huilai County using cumulative frequency distribution curves. Then, load index enrichment factor applied to estimate contamination levels, based on these concentrations. The results suggested that topsoil was moderately polluted by elements, while Cd construction land As farmland relatively severe. possible sources analyzed correlation analysis, geostatistics positive matrix factorization. Four have been determined apportioned, namely industrial activities, natural sources, agricultural practices, traffic emissions. Combining health risk assessment with source profiles, risks quantified from four estimated under farmland, land, woodland. showed practices most main non-cancer cancer woodland for adults; activities adults. Children's risks, both carcinogenic non-carcinogenic risk, greater than adults, trends adults children similarities. Therefore, should be controlled managed as a priority, given priority control management land.

Heavy metals are widely distributed in the environment due to natural processes and anthropogenic human activities. Their migration into no contaminated areas contributing towards pollution of ecosystems e.g. soils, plants, water air. It is recognized that heavy their toxicity, long persistence nature can accumulate trophic chain cause organism dysfunction. Although popularity herbal medicine rapidly increasing all over world metal toxicity has a great impact importance on plants consequently affects quality raw materials, extracts, safety marketability drugs. Effective control content using pharmaceutical food industries become indispensable. Therefore, this review describes various important factors such as ecological environmental pollution, cultivation harvest manufacturing which effects then Chinese medicines influence health. This also proposes possible management strategies recover sustainability medication safety. About 276 published studies (1988–2021) reviewed paper.
