The objective of this article is to investigate the integration a digestate treatment with biogas plant processing sewage sludge and food waste via process simulations: co-HTC mixed digestates supercritical water gasification (SCWG) aqueous effluent. optimum conditions are selected based on energetic yields, comparing relative equipment sizes besides hydrochar product. 200 °C, 30 % solid load, 1-h residence time for mixing ratios in scope: yields 3.58–3.59 MJ/kg reactor inlet. These result more than 60 K, P, N recovery hydrochar. SCWG effluent provides complete mineral form surplus energy production through syngas while causing some nitrogen loss as N2 gas. Although data calculated from individual HTC results, synergetic effect yield does not affect selection investigated (the origins digestates). Consequently, plants can evolve into multi-product biorefineries proposed integration. Meanwhile, study guide future experiments reduce required runs.

Efficiently managing sludge extract from physio-chemical processes in water/wastewater treatment plants is imperative for achieving zero-waste discharge and advancing environmental sustainability. This review critically examines current practices, challenges, opportunities associated with management, a specific focus on maximizing resource recovery while minimizing impacts. It distinguishes between primary sludge, generated physico-chemical processes, secondary biological treatments, highlighting the unique needs of sludge. By evaluating role generation exploring significance strategies, this highlights importance optimizing reuse within waste management bases. Key factors influencing quality composition extract, including chemical characteristics techniques, are thoroughly assessed. Furthermore, technological approaches discussed, advanced technologies successful case studies. Challenges limitations identified, along recommendations overcoming these barriers. The implications sustainability, conservation, regulatory agreement potential significant positive impacts practices. Future research directions also delineated, aiming to advance field promote adoption strategies management. serves as valuable guiding sustainable
