ABSTRACT Behavioural analysis has been attracting significant attention as a broad indicator of sub‐lethal toxicity and secured place an important subdiscipline in ecotoxicology. With the abundance of chemicals in environment that could potentially cause neurodevelopmental deficits, there is a need for rapid testing and chemical screening assays. This study evaluated developmental toxicity behavioral effects 61 zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae using Light/Dark assay. Larvae (n = 16–24 per concentration) were exposed to each (0.0001–120 μM) during development locomotor activity was assessed. Approximately half 30) did not show any gross (i.e., mortality, dysmorphology or non-hatching) at highest concentration tested. Twelve 31 elicit toxic only, thirteen developmentally concentrations 10 µM lower. Eleven caused effects; four (6-aminonicotinamide, cyclophosphamide, paraquat, phenobarbital) altered behavior absence toxicity.
