Nowadays, Nature-Based Solutions (NBSs) are developing as innovative multifunctional tools to maximize urban ecosystem services such storm water preservation, reduction of runoff and flood protection, groundwater pollution prevention, biodiversity enhancement, microclimate control. Gdańsk is one the first Polish cities widely introduce rain gardens (one example an NBS) in different areas parks, city center, main crossroads, car parks. They involve technical innovations individually tailored local architecture, including historic buildings spaces. Gdańskie Wody, which responsible for management city, adopted a pioneering strategy started construction garden 2018. Currently, there dozen this organisation's policy stipulates NBSs new housing estates without building rainwater drainage. Various types can be created depending on location characteristics geo-hydrology, well conditions needs. Furthermore, each them might equipped with specific solutions improve garden's function - example, oil separator or setter included absorb initial, most polluted runoff. During winter, large amount sodium chloride usually used grit roads may pose greatest threat plants. These installations have been Gdańsk, located central reservation streets center. This work presents various considerations their impact functions, circularity challenges provided by operating technologies surroundings. The precipitation quantity following infiltration rate were estimated installing pressure transducers. mitigation heat island was analysed based remote sensing images.

The ubiquitous presence of poly- and perfluoroalkyl (PFAS) is a severe concern in view their bioaccumulation persistence the environment. Subsequently, through feeding or drinking contaminated water, this contaminant will enter body living organisms humans cause serious diseases, specifically, different types cancers. There are many chemical, physical biological methods used for PFAS removal. However, besides some limitations, one most cost-effective, eco-friendly, simplest operation process. Biological techniques include bioremediation, phytoremediation, vermiremediation, biodegradation, bioadsorption, comprehensively reviewed study. Since combination more effective efficient than single method, we also kinds methods.

Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have emerged as newly regulated micropollutants, characterised by extreme recalcitrance environmental toxicity. Constructed wetlands (CWs), a nature-based solution, gained widespread application in sustainable water wastewater treatment offer multiple societal benefits. Despite CWs potential, knowledge gaps persist their PFAS removal capacities, associated mechanisms, modelling of fate. This study carried out systematic literature review, supplemented unpublished experimental data, demonstrating the promise for from influents varying sources characteristics. Median performances 64, 46, 0 % were observed five free surface (FWS), four horizontal subsurface flow (HF), 18 vertical (VF) wetlands, respectively. adsorption substrate or plant root/rhizosphere was deemed key mechanism. Nevertheless, available dataset resulted unsuitable quantitative analysis. Data-driven models, including regression models machine learning-based Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), employed to predict removal. These showed better predictive performance compared various mechanistic which include two isotherms. The results affirmed that artificial intelligence is an efficient tool emerging contaminants with limited chemical properties. In summary, this consolidated evidence supporting use mitigating new legacy contaminants. Further research, especially long-term monitoring full-scale treating real wastewater, crucial obtain additional data model development validation.
