The inefficiency of existing effluent treatment systems to eliminate pharmaceutical chemicals like endocrine disrupting estrogenic compounds from contaminated waters has raised global environmental and ecological concerns. Diatoms are unicellular, eukaryotic phytoplankton that inhabits ubiquitously possess adaptive plasticity which enables them withstand rapid fluctuations. Thus, diatoms can be employed as indicators organisms bioremediation agents even trace amounts Pharmaceutical Contaminants (PCs) the compounds. In this study, influence simulated wastewater containing 17-β Estradiol (E2) on growth, cellular metabolites oxidative stress response diatom, Thalassiosira weissflogii was assessed. Though an increasing concentration chemical displayed a negative correlation with number cells biomass productivity; photosynthetic profile diatom showed varied responses significant enhancement in chlorophyll carotenoid content. test concentrations T1 T3 elevated carbohydrate protein levels (0.82 ± 0.003 g L-1 2.04 0.020 L-1) establishing E2 optimised enhance primary metabolite secretion diatoms, thereby valorizing its potential suitable aqua feed. Besides this, elevation antioxidative against reactive oxygen species generated also distinctly recorded respect increased release catalase (152.70 0.05–265.52 0.06 k mg-1) ascorbate peroxidases (0.959 0.008–1.92 0.021 U well conspicuous increment lipid peroxidation hydrogen peroxide content there. novel strategy employing for multitude biorefinery aspects besides reacclimating water reveals perspective application approach.

The quality of water used for human consumption related to the absence coliforms, which, which may cause diseases and exhibit antimicrobial resistance, a frequent issue in places with poor or non-existent environmental sanitation. present study evaluated concentrations total thermotolerant coliforms rivers wells Curitibanos (SC), as well phenotypic resistance four antibiotics (Ampicillin, Ampicillin+Sulbactam, Ciprofloxacin Tetracycline), during seasons year. Analysis variance was performed means were separated by Scott-Knott test, at 5% error probability. In rivers, highest values of fecal recorded summer winter, ampicillin ampicillin+sulbactam higher autumn, while tetracycline more prevalent summer. wells, averages occurred summer, autumn levels observed against ampicillin, autumn. Overall, had compromised quality, compared emphasizing need preserve aquatic resources order decrease evolution deaths superbacteria that be ingested contaminated water.
