Walking can be an efficient and sustainable mode of transportation for "last mile" connectivity. However, the willingness to walk largely depends on availability infrastructure, safety, comfort. Improving thermal comfort streets connected transit stations is crucial encouraging walking public use. This study assesses seasonal spatiotemporal variations in pedestrian (PTC) N-S-oriented street Nagpur (India). Thermal surveys simultaneously monitored environmental conditions human perception (thermal sensation vote-TSV). The findings revealed that urban geometry significantly influences PTC TSV, level influence varied spatiotemporally both seasons. shows relationship between geometry, microclimate, PTC, emphasizing necessity a multidimensional assessment approach.

Urban populations face increasing heat stress in cities. However, the influence of built environment new and old urban blocks on pedestrian thermal comfort remains unclear. This study selected typical (Yongqingfang) areas (Knowledge City) Guangzhou, China, as our research sites. Through field monitoring surveys, we used physiological equivalent temperature (PET) vote (TCV) to evaluate outdoor by walk experiments. We analyzed relationships between variables, meteorological at two Our analysis revealed significant differences conditions within 60-m buffer zone. PET TCV showed noticeable spatiotemporal variations both sites, their correlation was stronger morning (r = 0.87–0.89) than late afternoon 0.60–0.70). stepwise regression model indicated that sky view factor building coverage ratio significantly affected blocks. Built variables explained a higher percentage variance (Yongqingfang R2: 0.59–0.82, Knowledge City 0.32–0.81) 0.45–0.57, 0.48–0.69). In short, indices more perception. The impact is also greater findings provide insights into complex relationship environments different landscapes, which informs climate-resilient design.

Abstract The heatwave in 2022 South Asia disrupted the lives of millions people and posed challenges to human health, energy, water, food security. However, mega heatwaves’ causes, impacts, occurrence (like 2022) remain largely unrecognized. Here, we analyzed heatwave, its mechanisms, future likelihood using observational datasets climate model simulations. In last few years, frequency duration heatwaves have significantly increased Asia. faced five continuous spells that lasted about 35 d during late February April 2022, affecting a large part region. year was unprecedented caused deficit soil moisture crop yield. Moreover, our results show excessive radiative heating arid semi-arid regions resulted high geopotential height low pressure heatwave. simulations such are projected become more frequent under warmer world, their time emergence could be as early 2030s highest emission scenario. Earlier occurrences will pose considerable adaptation for water security
