Inoculation of soil with living microbes or propagules has grown in interest and application due to the modification/degradation systems (including native microbial communities), need maintain agricultural yields fewer synthetic inputs. Whilst beneficial microorganisms such as plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) mycorrhizal fungi have been employed via inoculation, their utilisation an agronomic tool remains trivial context large-scale commercial agriculture. The development inoculation products thus far largely focused on capacity support health (and correlating yield/profitability), little attention paid ability these organisms/products influence carbon. Given expected inoculant industry (estimated reach US$12.5b revenue by 2027), increasing commercialisation carbon sequestration (via credits other financially linked instruments), find viable solutions assist drawdown atmospheric CO2, a greater understanding role cycling is required order facilitate capable supporting retention Here, we review mechanisms which contribute suggest several groups that may be promising candidates for further exploration. Of many mediated identified, highlight (among others) arbuscular transition from labile recalcitrant pools (mineral associated aggregated), melanising endophytic potential source stable carbon, PGPB stimulators growth/reliance entering pool. We put forward ‘biochar + microbe system’ avenue overcome current limitations building retaining stocks. This timely, given challenges facing global food production, address climate change.

Manipulating microorganisms to increase soil organic carbon (SOC) in croplands remains a challenge. Soil microbes are important drivers of SOC sequestration, especially via their necromass accumulation. However, microbial parameters rarely used predict cropland stocks, possibly due uncertainties regarding the relationships between pools, community properties and SOC. Herein we evaluated (diversity network complexity), pools (biomass carbon) 468 soils across northeast China. We found that not only but also complexity) biomass were correlated with Microbial diversity played more role predicting for maize, while complexity was rice. Models performed better when included simultaneously. Taken together our results suggest influence accumulation croplands, management practices improve these may levels.

An economy based on renewable energy sources is the hallmark of responsible companies. Climate policy and crisis commitments have led to a search for alternative ways produce energy. Bioenergy considered most consistent source due its economic environmental benefits. Biogas biomethane are promising forms derived from widely available evergreen raw materials. Agricultural, animal, industrial food wastes excellent substrates used clean sustainable in circular context. Their conversion into biogas through anaerobic digestion (AD) process an efficient solution treatment waste different origins. The production use favor important advantages, such as reduction greenhouse gas emissions compared with those deriving conventional fossil fuels. This review would like highlight modern trends approaches evaluate processes strategies control production. In particular, livestock reuse by-product fertilizer, well potential development prospects improvement optimization sources, discussed.

This research focuses on understanding the spatial variation of Soil Organic Matter (SOM) and pH levels in North Morocco. The study employs a comprehensive approach to enhance predictive modelling, incorporating Boruta algorithm for effective environmental covariates selection optimizing model parameters through hyperparameter optimization. Utilizing Random Forest (RF) with remote sensing indices topographic features, predicts SOM identify key contributors their variability. prediction saw significant success, notable correlation such as RVI, NDVI, TNDVI. These indices, indicative vegetation health productivity, emerged primary influencers SOM. In comparison, influence features like elevation, slope, aspect was found be less significant. Conversely, predicting challenging due minimal variability within dataset. Addressing this limitation could involve dataset expansion or alternative models low-correlated data handling. Despite RF model's limited efficacy prediction, an observable between identified, consistent prior research. Areas higher exhibited lower values, indicating relative soil acidification from organic matter decomposition. study's demonstrated potential using but enhancing is essential. Future may explore expansion, diverse sampling, testing better performance datasets. offers valuable insights advanced development enriches management practices.
