Abstract
The
start-up
of
large
biogas
projects
required
a
number
inoculum,
which
need
high
cost
and
long
time.
This
study
investigated
three
methods
on
starting
the
Continuous
Stirred
Tank
Reactor
(CSTR)
corn
stalk.
used
domesticated
cow
dung
as
inoculum
feeding
frequency
included
every
2
d
(T2),
4
(T4),
8
(T8).
results
shown
that
CSTR
reactor
stalk
could
be
started
successfully
under
different
methods.
Among
them,
T4
achieved
highest
cumulative
methane
production
with
66.93L,
was
11.86%
36.15%
higher
than
T2
T8.
Compared
manure
system,
microbial
diversity
in
reactors
increased.
Firmicutes
dominant
bacterial
phyla,
Methanosarcina
archaea.
enrichment
corresponded
to
production.

Due
to
the
special
property
of
food
waste
(FW),
anaerobic
digestion
is
facing
many
challenges
like
foaming,
acidification,
ammonia
nitrogen
and
(NH4+-N)
inhibition
which
resulted
in
a
low
biogas
yield.
A
better
understanding
on
problems
exiting
FW
would
enhance
bio-energy
recovery
increase
stable
operation.
Meanwhile,
overcome
bottle
necks,
pretreatment,
co-digestion
additives
proposed
as
well
solutions
improve
yield
system.
At
last,
future
research
directions
regarding
were
proposed.
