Ultrasonically activated persulfate (S2O82−, PS) or peroxymonosulfate (HSO5−, PMS) processes have sparked a lot of interest in the degradation emerging contaminants recent years, because their excellent potential and adaptability. In this review, synergistic effects ultrasound (US) other activating agents such as heat, ultraviolet light (UV), electricity, heavy metals were analyzed order to make recommendations for commercial exploitation. Several designs ultrasonic reactors direct indirect mode operation discussed with possible use activation PS/PMS refractory compounds. Applications suitable sonoreactor configurations water treatment, disinfection, wastewater treatment (synthetic/real wastewater), soil, sludge presented. It has been elucidated that selection optimized considering various parameters including geometric (type acoustic device, number transducers, configuration/arrangement transducers) operating (power dissipation, irradiating frequency, duty cycle) is important maximize efficacy activation. A systematic insight into mechanism US combination well effect US/other on also highlighted review. The work clearly key process intensification benefits terms higher oxidation capacity, reduced times cost based expected synergism combinations.

Pharmaceutical residues have been identified as a priority contaminant due to their toxicity organisms and the ecosystem representative refractory organic compounds in water. Therefore, using efficient treatment methods remove them from wastewater has become crucial topic of research. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) based on sulfate radical gained increased attention recent years superior performance adaptability decomposition contaminants. In this work, scrap printed circuit boards (PCBs) were used prepare low-cost heterogeneous peroxydisulfate (PDS) catalytic activator

Abstract High-density polyethylene (HDPE) waste and chicken eggshell were used to synthesize three novel adsorbents, namely mesoporous graphene (MG), nano-eggshell modified (nEMG), nano-magnetic (nM-EMG) for methyl red (MR) adsorption from simulated wastewater. The effects of conditions (pH, contact time, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, temperature) investigated. MG, nEMG, nM-EMG characterized using SEM, TEM, BET, EDX, XRD, FTIR analyses. had specific surface areas 15, 31, 179 m 2 /g mean pore diameters 27, 29, 5 nm respectively. equilibrium capacities 5.6, 8.1, 6.5 mg/g respectively at MR concentration 100 mg/L, pH 4, dose 1.0 g/100 mL, temperature 25 °C. All sorption processes followed the pseudo-second-order Langmuir–Freundlich model. rates controlled by intra-particle film diffusion. uptake on synthesized adsorbents was spontaneous, endothermic, chemisorption. occurred via electrostatic interactions, π electron hydrogen bonding. performance prepared examined in different water matrices compared with other adsorbents. After five regeneration cycles, reusability study showed that is most stable reusable adsorbent.
