The contamination of aquatic environments by heavy metals can have detrimental effects on fish, impacting their growth and overall health, including the regulation antioxidant genes. An investigation was carried out to assess distribution habitat Gymnocypris eckloni in Yellow River basin. Simultaneously, metal concentrations its selected locations within upper were measured. In an effort explore potential roles specific genes responses, G. exposed low copper (Cu2+) lead (Pb2+) for varying durations (12, 24, 48 hours). mRNA levels GeCu/Zn-SOD, GeMn-SOD, GeHsp90, GeMT quantified gills, kidneys, liver through qRT-PCR. findings suggest that is generally safe; however, occasional exceedances safety standards could pose a threat growth. Importantly, expression exhibited responses copper-induced lead-induced stress. Notably, demonstrated heightened sensitivity compared copper. Furthermore, these displayed tissue-specific under identical stress conditions. These results indicate serve as early, sensitive biomarkers detection toxicity induced Cu2+ Pb2+. This study also provides valuable insights into functioning oxidative fish.

Groundwater is the only available freshwater source in coastal regions of Kerala. These resources are exposed to saline intrusion and floods low land area. This study explored hydro geochemistry controlling processes as unique groundwater system for drinking, irrigation, industrial uses along coast. The Kohonen map or self-organising (SOM) provides exploratory data analysis pattern recognition with linear nonlinear correlation between various features data. entropy weighted water quality index (EWQI), hydrochemistry self-organizing maps (SOM), box whisker plots, ionic relationships, factor were utilised this study. order dominance cations: Na++K+>Ca2+>Mg2+ & anions: HCO3->Cl->SO42->NO3->PO43-. Electrical conductivity observed higher values (>1500 µS/cm) near seaward side, salt ingress revealed by ratios. EWQI indicated 60% samples pre-monsoon (50.5±23.4) excellent category, monsoon (67.5±39.4), post-monsoon (93.4±65.1) 40% 7% respectively. Cation exchange dominant process occurred sources from scatter Schoeller index, relationship plots. Piper diagram shows Ca-Mg-HCO3 type. Gibb's water-rock interaction, weathering dissolution contributes groundwater. Sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), %Na, magnesium (MAR) permeability (PI) showed, suitable irrigation all seasons. Industrial stability aggressiveness showed moderately aggressive non-aggressive scale-forming tendency persists. (IndWQI) 74% pre-monsoon, 100% 82% season unsuitable activities. Factor was identified five factors (total variation explained 80% 85% monsoon, 86% post-monsoon) mainly contributed quality. Hierarchical cluster (HCA) grouped parameters into three, based on effects hydrochemistry.

Balancing human needs with nature’s contributions is essential for sustainable development. The contribution to people (NCPs) framework helps identify ecosystem benefits; however, few studies have applied it conservation priorities on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. Here, we first proposed an assessment method supply and demand of critical NCPs, including habitat maintenance (NCP1), climate regulation (NCP4), water quantity (NCP6), assessed NCPs from 2000 2020. Then, evaluated importance vulnerability based NCP scores multiple stressors, which refer current future socioeconomic climatic factors inter-annual variability. Finally, identified ecological priority areas by comprehensively considering vulnerability. results revealed that following: (1) three across QTP showed similar spatial distributions, higher values in southeast lower northwest, whereas NCP4 NCP6 increasing trends over time; (2) was eastern western parts QTP, while greater central northwest areas, NCP1 recording much (0.94 0.90, respectively) compared (0.14); (3) were primarily (13.68%), covering Yangtze Lancang basins, key focused southwest, underscoring a significant emphasis region both perspectives. These insights into NCPs’ support regional coordination management enhance well-being.
