Sulfate radical-based advanced oxidation processes exhibit great potential for the degradation of organic pollutants. In this study, P-doped biochar (PBC500) was successfully synthesized by pyrolysis H3PO4-impregnated cow manure waste and employed to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) elimination 17β-estradiol (E2). The characterization results showed that surface area, defective structure, functional groups (C=O phosphorus-containing groups) increased after H3PO4 modification. PBC500 exhibited high PMS activation activity excellent E2 capacity; 97.91% 3 mg/L can be removed within 90 min using 0.2 g/L 1 mM PMS. Based on quenching experiments X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, structures, C=O, P-C act as active sites promote catalytic generating O2− 1O2. addition, displayed reusability, achieving 65.15% three reuse cycles. Overall, study presented a new technique supports efficiency, environmentally friendly, low cost treatment method wastewater simultaneously provided option resource utilization livestock waste.
