Abstract The growing global population and higher living standards instantly demand the transition in direction of a sustainable food system. A substantial section means agricultural lands are presently committed to protein-rich feed production rear livestock for human consumption. Conversely, accelerated farming activities industry have rendered drastic increase waste which impair economic environmental sustainability ecosystem. This situation emerges need developing an integrated technology management improve footprints. Microbial protein (MP) based on renewable electron carbon sources has potential as substitute source. MP animal use is fast derived from bacteria, algae, fungi including yeast. produced all types microbes currently commercialized use. However, novel methods processes also under investigation make more economical sustainable. Current research concentrated valorization materials by using high content-containing microorganisms, can then be used feed. Using such kind approach, agroindustry resources upcycling contribute towards finding sustainable, cheaper, environment-friendly sources. review first describes feedstock summarizes recent progress application MP-producing microorganisms fungus, yeast, phototrophic microbes. Fish meal represents the main protein source for most commercially farmed aquatic species, as it is characterized by high nutritional value and lack of anti-nutritional factors. However, its availability market price have been recognized serious problems at least over a decade, making necessary to search non-conventional sources, an alternative fish meals. This review aims comprehensively examine critically revise use all sources explored date on health, welfare, growth performance major species interesting from global scenario. The investigation revealed that inclusion levels different plant- animal-derived, ranged 10 80 % 2 100 respectively, in partial or complete replacement meal, generated positive effects performance, fillet quality. results showed above certain level inclusion, each can negatively affect metabolic activities, other biological parameters. Moreover, likely mixing combination ingredient causes synergistic effect properties. Therefore, future feed formulation expected be based blend sources. Overall, analysis highlighted need additional research field replacing meals with new given many knowledge gaps are still filled which deserve investigated.

With the global expansion of aquaculture and increasing demand for fish meal, identifying appropriate sustainable alternative protein sources aquafeeds has become essential. Single-cell (SCP), derived from methanotrophic bacteria, presents a promising by converting methane into protein, potentially addressing both need reducing industrial greenhouse gas emissions. This study aimed to evaluate effects different levels SCP inclusion (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% meal replacement) on health, gene expression, gut microbiome yellowtail kingfish (YTK, Seriola lalandi) following 35-day growth trial. The found that at highest level fishmeal replacement (75%) induced mild inflammatory response in hindgut fish. However, micromorphological assessments hindgut, serum biochemistry, expression analyses revealed no significant detrimental replacement. Notably, there were indications improved lipid digestibility with SCP. Furthermore, significantly enhanced microbial richness altered composition microbiome, introducing beneficial bacterial taxa may contribute health resilience. highlights as viable YTK diets. findings suggest can be included diets without adverse moderate even offer benefits terms diversity. The aquaculture sector faces sustainability challenges due to unsustainable feedstuffs. To address this, there's a continuous search for alternatives traditional aquafeed protein sources such as fishmeal. Clostridium autoethanogenum is novel source with long-standing application in the bio-energy industry. With 80–89% crude content on dry matter basis, (CAP) has gained attention nutrition research species. This study aimed review CAP utilization aquafeed, examining its nutritional value and impacts aquatic animals' growth, feed efficiency, digestion, absorption, immune response. Research suggests promising potential showing achieving complete fishmeal replacement without compromising growth performance response select Nonetheless, higher inclusion levels show adverse effects health status of certain fish species, indicating variability among species utilize CAP-based diets. Further investigations are required understand this outcomes reported
