Long-term exposure to urban dust containing potentially toxic elements (PTEs) poses detrimental impacts on human health. However, studies estimating health risks in dusts from a global perspective are scarce. We evaluated data for twelve PTEs across 59 countries 463 published articles, including their concentrations, input sources, and probabilistic found that 34.1 60.3% of those investigated have been heavily contaminated with As Cd, respectively. The was significantly correlated economic structure due emissions industrial activities traffic being the major sources. Based Monte Carlo simulation, we mean hazard index below safe threshold (1.0) could still cause non-negligible Arsenic Cr were threatening health, relatively high risk levels observed cities China, Korea, Chile, Malaysia, Australia. Importantly, our analysis suggested threaten approximately 92 million adults 280 children worldwide. Overall, study provides important foundational understanding guidance policy decision-making reduce potential associated PTE promote sustainable development economies.

In light of the growing urgency climate change, carbon emissions reduction has emerged as a pivotal concern within global governance. this paper, we take emission efficiency (CEE) research object to characterize relationship between economic, social, and environmental development in context Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According regional division standard eight comprehensive economic zones China, paper analyzed spatial differences, evolutionary characteristics, influencing factors CEE 257 Chinese cities over period 2003–2019. The analysis conducted Dagum Gini Coefficient, Markov Transition Probability Matrix, geographically temporally weighted regression model (GTWR). results demonstrate that: (1) exhibits an upward trajectory. (2) inter-differences among represent primary source divergence. (3) is staged process gradual enhancement with spillover effects. (4) Environmental regulation, energy consumption intensity, green finances are significant affecting CEE, direction intensity their influence have distinct heterogeneity. Ultimately, proposes measures narrow gap regions enhance across region. Meanwhile, implementing refinement management formulating differentiated sustainable planning.
