Two pilot-scale two-stage anoxic/oxic membrane bioreactors were operated at different dissolved oxygen (DO) levels to evaluate the nitrogen removal performances for treating landfill sludge dewatering liquid (SDL) via partial nitrification (PN) and denitrification. Compared low DO system (2.0 – 3.0 mg/L), high (5.0 6.0 mg/L) exhibited efficient PN denitrification, with nitrite accumulation efficiency (98.5%) (98.0%). The removed mainly (53.8%) simultaneous denitrification (45.1%). Kinetic inhibition tests verified optimal pH 5.0 mg/L 8.5. Enriched nitrifying (Nitrosomonas) denitrifying bacteria (Thiopseudomonas, Pseudomonas, Truepera) in environment accomplished process. Metagenomic analysis showed that enriched functional genes such as amoA/B/C, hao, nirK/S, while was unsuitable of ammonia wastewater.

During adaptation to waters that are rich in xenobiotics, biological systems pass through multiple stages. The first one is related the restructuring of communities, pronounced destruction structure, and multiplication active biodegradants. purpose present research was describe microbiome occurs during stage landfill leachate treatment. In a model SBR (sequencing batch reactor), 21-day purification process simulated. Wastewater fed increasing concentrations. When undiluted entered, activated sludge structure disintegrated (Sludge Volume Index—4.6 mL/g). Chemical Oxygen Demand ammonium nitrogen concentration remained at high values influent (2321.11 mgO2/L 573.20 mg/L, respectively). A significant amount free-swimming cells found, number aerobic heterotrophs bacteria genera Pseudomonas Acinetobacter increased by up 125 times. Azoarcus-Thauera cluster (27%) spp. (16%) were registered as main bacterial groups sludge. changed microbial community, Gammaproteobacteria, family Rhizobiaceae, class Saccharimonadia predominantly represented. Among suspended bacteria, Microbactericeae Burkholderiaceae, which known for their ability degrade larger quantities. enzymological analysis demonstrated ortho-pathway cleavage aromatic structures community. described changes leachate-purifying community appear be destructive technological level. At microbiological level, however, trends initial clearly outlined, which, if continued, could provide highly efficient biodegradation
