Copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and nickel (Ni) are essential micronutrients for aquatic life, but they produce adverse effects on organisms when environmental concentrations exceed a certain threshold. The objective of this study was to analyze the taxon-specific sensitivities life three metals assess ecological risks at exposure levels prevalent in Songhua River, China. results showed that these varied among different taxonomic groups, with intra-taxon being lower than inter-taxa sensitivities, consistency sensitivity increased from phylum order. maximum detected Cu, Zn, Ni River were 52.7, 166.0, 65.3 μg/L, respectively, which met water quality standards set by China exceeded chronic criteria established USA. A probabilistic risk assessment based toxicity data revealed posed an intermediate high animals, products 36.4% 14.3% Ni, 6.2% respectively. These indicate damage heavy cannot be ignored.

The environmental persistence of antiviral drugs poses serious safety hazards to aquatic ecosystems through their selective pressure on microorganisms, yet the understanding drugs’ impact microbial community structures remains limited. In this study, surface water samples from Beijing were analyzed for drug concentrations using UPLC-MS/MS, and abundance was assessed via 16S amplicon sequencing. Employing these methods, we investigated mechanisms which may exert ecological risks communities. Our findings reveal that significantly increase Enhydrobacter Nitrospira microbiota. concentration DNA polymerase inhibitor is positively correlated with Peredibacter, Enterococcus, Aeromonas, Aquabacterium, Alloprevotella, Ruminococcus. With increasing urbanization and rapid industrialization, more environmental problems have arisen. Phthalates (PAEs) are the foremost most widespread plasticizers readily emitted from these manufactured products into environment. PAEs act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can serious impacts on aquatic organisms well human health. In this study, water quality criteria (WQC) of five (dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl (DEP), dibutyl (DBP), butyl benzyl (BBP) di(2-ethylhexyl) (DEHP)) for freshwater were developed using a species sensitivity distribution (SSD) toxicity percentage ranking (TPR) approach. The results showed that long-term (LWQC) SSD method could be 13.7, 11.1, 2.8, 7.8, 0.53 μg/L, respectively. Criteria continuous concentrations (CCC) derived TPR determined to 28.4, 13.1, 1.3, 2.5, 1.6 commonly measured in China surface waters at between ng/L μg/L. DBP, DEHP, di-n-octyl (DnOP) frequently detected PAEs, with occurrence rates ranging 67% 100%. ecological risk assessment decreasing order national level, DMP, DEP, DnOP. study will great benefit other countries revising standards conservation species.

The eco-geno-toxicological impacts of the most widely used antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV2 - ribavirin, ritonavir, nirmatrelvir and tenofovir were investigated in freshwater organisms. Ribavirin exhibited highest acute toxicity rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus at concentrations a few mg/L while ritonavir showed similar effects tens mg/L; ribavirin was also observed crustacean Ceriodaphnia dubia concentrations. In contrast, Thamnocephalus platyurus lowest sensitivity to tested with no sublethal effects.
