Environmental pollution with plastic and microplastics (MPs) is a global problem. This study investigates macro, meso, MPs in the soil around Tabriz landfill northwest Iran effect of prevailing wind on their distribution. One control sample one from itself, 20 samples four directions at regular intervals direction against it, two perpendicular (22 samples) were taken analyzed. The results showed that poorly managed, fact, it an unsanitary landfill/dump site. polluted average abundance equal to 6.5 ± 10.4 item/kg(dw), 15.5 28.3 470 193 item/kg(dw) respectively. region has had no significant dispersion distribution MPs. most abundant studied area belonged fragment film-shaped particles, respectively, color was white. Indiscriminate use plastics, especially single-use lack attention hierarchy waste management, as well proper management turning into dump, are among important reasons for presence landfill.

Despite the increasing use of emerging phthalate and non-phthalate plasticisers as replacements for restricted phthalates, few studies have investigated their rates entry persistence in soils. We release plasticiser diethyl hexyl terephthalate (DEHTP) from polyvinyl chloride microplastics (PVC; 4 mm diameter; 21% DEHTP w/w) soils a 3-month laboratory study. was released rapidly, with 6.6-12.1 ng per mg PVC within <2 h, although this small proportion amount pellets (<0.006%). Degradation 8 were measured separate For 7 12 plasticisers, pseudo-first order half-lives <30 days, suggesting relatively low persistence. 5 higher molecular weight including trioctyl trimellitate DEHTP, more persistent, >100 days. Plasticiser significantly positively correlated logKOW. typically slower acidic heathland (pH 3.8; organic matter 3.7%), than alkaline grassland 7.3; OM 16%) or sandy loam agricultural 5.3; 5%) Rapid potential some indicates that presence these contaminants may increase future.
