Abstract This work synthesized MnO 2 modified winter melon-derived biochar (MnO @WBC) using potassium permanganate oxidation/hydrothermal method for uranium(VI) removal. The factors influencing adsorption by @WBC, including pH, adsorbent dosage, time, temperature, and initial U(VI) concentration were explored. material’s performance was characterized, the underlying mechanism of removal analyzed various techniques. characterization results indicated that @WBC exhibited excellent dispersibility, suggesting effectively prevented WBC aggregation enhanced reactive surface area, providing more active sites can promote complexation U(VI). process suggested a dominant role chemical adsorption. Freundlich isotherm model demonstrated high degree alignment with observed behavior, indicating predominantly multilayer process. Thermodynamic studies spontaneous endothermic XPS analysis primarily due to formation stable complexes C–O, Mn–O–H C=O. removed U(VI), achieving maximum capacity 240.86 mg g −1 at pH 5.0. Efficient uranium extraction from seawater is critical for the development of nuclear industry. Herein, a polydopamine/salicylaldoxime decorated hierarchical zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (H-PDA/SA-ZIF-8) constructed by using controlled etching process. Benefiting combination PDA/SA and (ZIF-8), as well process, H-PDA/SA-ZIF-8 possesses multiaffinity sites, excellent specific surface area (1234.92 m2 g-1), pore structure. The exhibits adsorption capacity (Qm = 869.6 mg selectivity, reusability in adsorption. process fits very with Langmuir isotherm model pseudo-second-order models, equilibrates within 20 min (C0 L-1). Furthermore, shows remarkable antibacterial ability. Impressively, to natural reaches 6.9 g-1 after circulation 15 days. Therefore, promising fascinating material seawater.
