Introduction In recent years, river ecosystem stability has been increasingly threatened by human activities and climate change. Comprehensive quantification of systematic analysis its response to change are essential for effective conservation management. Methods Thus, this study proposed a novel quantitative approach integrating the driving factors. The Han River Basin in China was selected as area due distinctive characteristics significant anthropogenic impact. Both external factors, including urbanization, dam construction, precipitation, internal such TP, DO, EC, were considered Results results revealed that compared upstream, resilience lower reaches decreased 35.75% resistance 8.2%, suggesting from upstream downstream. Urbanization had most negative impact on stability, followed precipitation construction. Among EC three main factors affecting increases these contributed positively enhancing stability. Discussion These findings highlight need targeted strategies mitigate human-induced disturbances enhance Based results, specific recommendations support watershed management ecological restoration, providing valuable insights sustainable conservation.
