Membrane
fouling
is
the
main
challenge
that
limits
ultrafiltration
(UF)
membrane
long-term
application.
Coagulation,
as
an
effective
pretreatment
method,
not
only
reduce
pollutants
loaded
on
surface,
but
also
transform
membrane-pollutant
contact
into
pollutant-floc
reaction.
Zircon
(Zr)
salts
have
drawn
wide
attention
a
novel
metal-based
coagulant
because
of
its
excellent
coagulation
performance.
In
present
study,
three
types
Zr
coagulants
zirconium
tetrachloride
(ZrCl4)
and
polyzirconium
chloride
(PZC),
/
Poly
dimethyl
diallyl
ammonium
(PZC/PDMDAAC)
were
estimated
in
terms
removal
organic
mitigation
fouling.
Results
showed
PZC1.5/P2
presented
best
performance
under
acidic
neutral
conditions
due
to
better
bridging
affinity
sweeping
ability.
8
mg/L
dosage
could
effectively
remove
turbidity
(98.27%)
dissolved
carbon
(DOC)
(59.04%)
during
process.
Furthermore,
pre-coagulation
by
induced
transformation
from
cake
filtration
thoroughly
intermediate
blocking
particulate
matter
would
prevent
reversible
fouling-induced
flux
decline,
whereas
elimination
was
benefit
for
promoting
UF
efficiency
mitigating
irreversible
Besides,
Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek
(XDLVO)
analysis
foulants
became
more
hydrophilic
coagulated
PZC1.5/P2,
adhesion
between
surface
greatly
weakened.
All
improvement
originated
flocs
structure
contributed
with
improved
normalize
(J/J0)
0.50
0.75,
larger
decrease
82.27%
91.27%,
respectively.
More
important,
exhibited
performances
treatment
actual
water
Wolf
Mushan
reservoir,
which
demonstrated
Zr-based
promising
practical
application
purification.

The
adherence
of
pathogenic
microorganisms
to
surfaces
and
their
association
form
antibiotic-resistant
biofilms
threatens
public
health
affects
several
industrial
sectors
with
significant
economic
losses.
For
this
reason,
the
medical,
pharmaceutical
materials
science
communities
are
exploring
more
effective
anti-fouling
approaches.
This
review
focuses
on
properties,
structure-activity
relationships
environmental
toxicity
quaternary
ammonium
salts
(QAS)
and,
as
a
subclass,
ionic
liquid
compounds.
Greener
alternatives
such
QAS-based
antimicrobial
polymers
biocide
release,
non-fouling
(i.e.,
PEG,
zwitterions),
fouling
release
poly(dimethylsiloxanes),
fluorocarbon)
contact
killing
properties
highlighted.
We
also
report
dual-functional
stimuli-responsive
materials.
Given
impacts
in
submerged
surfaces,
we
emphasize
importance

explored
approaches
marine

A
novel
composite
flocculant
(PCNF)
was
prepared
using
nano
Fe3O4
as
the
condensed
core,
sodium
carboxymethyl
cellulose
(CMC-Na)
binder,
and
polyferric
sulfate
(PFS).
The
results
indicate
that
mass
ratio
of
to
PFS
is
key
factor
determining
flocculation
effect
PCNF.
When
1:3,
Zeta
potential
value
approximately
-1.5
mV,
indicating
better
removal
algae
through
adsorption
electroneutralization.
resulting
floc,
characterized
by
negative
charge
a
loose
structure,
forms
filter
cake
layer
easily
backwashed
on
surface
ultrafiltration
membrane.
This
floc
also
creates
strong
electrostatic
repulsion
with
membrane
surface.
Experimental
demonstrate
specific
flux
decreased
0.69,
total
relative
pollution
0.33,
proportion
irreversible
only
34.65%,
all
which
were
superior
traditional
like
PACl.
Through
microinterface
mechanism
analysis,
it
concluded
new
PCNF
flocculant,
in
combination
algal
matter,
structure
critical
for
mitigating
caused
high
content
natural
water.
