Plastic is a material that widely used in everyday life. It can be degraded into small-sized fragments (< 5 mm) called microplastics (MPs). Research on MPs has primarily focused the aquatic environment, while studies airborne (AMPs) are still their early stages. In this study, AMPs at two locations (Bandung (Indonesia) and Osaka (Japan)) were characterized by attenuated total imaging micro-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, as preliminary study. The concentrations of suspended particulates (TSP) Bandung ranged from 1.03 to 14.27 particles/m 3 0.63 3.29 , respectively. both fragmented, with dominant Feret diameters ranging 1 20 μm.

Microplastic (MP) pollution has emerged as a critical environmental and health issue, particularly in urban areas where the use of plastic packaging for preserved foods, personal care products, other consumables is prevalent. The rapid pace urbanization amplifies challenges associated with managing MP pollution, making it imperative to develop innovative sustainable solutions. MPs are ubiquitous environments, originating from various sources pathways, including improper waste disposal, stormwater runoff, atmospheric deposition. These tiny particles not only threaten ecological integrity but also pose significant risks human health. Addressing this issue requires comprehensive approach that integrates management, public considerations, socio-economic factors within planning. presence adversely affects ecosystems health, highlighting urgent need effective management strategies. This paper presents novel perspective on focusing specific opportunities. Unlike existing reviews provide broad overviews our study proposes strategies designed address distinct issues faced settings. We analysis current state knowledge regarding areas, encompassing environmental, impacts. include promoting eco-friendly alternatives plastics, enhancing collection disposal systems, implementing policy interventions aimed at reducing consumption. By addressing urban-specific proposing solutions, aims significantly contribute field urbanization, ultimately safeguarding environment.

It is true that microplastics can be found almost anywhere, but we still do not know about their possible effect on life and ecosystems. To assess eventually advise regulations, new automated analytical methods are needed.
