Microalgae can be collected in large quantities and hold significant potential for environmental remediation, offering a cost-effective solution. This study explores the use of Spirulina platensis (SP) as feedstock biochar production. SP contains abundant nitrogen-rich components, such proteins, which serve nitrogen sources. We prepared SP-derived through pyrolysis adsorption Pb Zn from aqueous solutions used it an amending agent to remediate heavy metal-contaminated agricultural soil. Pyrolysis proteins introduces nitrogen-functional groups, resulting nitrogen-doped biochar. investigated surface chemical behavior thermally treated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Surface analysis revealed presence pyridine-N pyrrole-N protein products. The also demonstrated that these functional groups affect interactions with metals. Batch experiments examined effects pH initial concentration on SP400 SP600. Both types showed satisfactory performance adsorbing Zn. effect SP600 removal physicochemical properties was investigated. Analysis highlighted electrostatic interactions, cation exchange, complexation, mineral precipitation contributed adsorption. concludes biochar, particularly SP600, is effective immobilizing contaminated soil, showing superior performance.
