Chlorella vulgaris is of great importance in numerous exploratory or industrial applications (e.g., medicals, food, and feed additives). Realized niches are crucial in defining their optimal conditions and serve as valuable tools for predicting the phytoplankton dynamics relation to eutrophication, climate change, harmful blooms. However, previous studies have largely focused on marine ecosystems, leaving freshwater systems less studied. In this study, we elucidate patterns of community succession based niche characteristics Shanmei (SM) Reservoir, a drinking water source Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Additionally, variations were mainly explained by realized niche. SM total chlorophyll concentrations ranged from 252 24,008 ng/L. The was dominated Chlorophyta Cyanophyta, which consisted mostly Pseudanabaena Microcystis, especially summer. This dominance attributed wide breadth high mean temperature, nitrogen, dissolved reactive phosphorus. The vertical distribution of phytoplankton plays a crucial role in shaping the dynamics and structure aquatic communities. In highly dynamic reservoir systems, water level fluctuations significantly affect physiochemical conditions community. However, specific effects on characteristics between mainstream tributary bay remain unstudied.
