Non-exhaust emissions have become an increasingly important issue as their levels continue to rise and the health effects of particulate matter (PM) are more widely discussed. To address this issue, a vehicle demonstrator with integrated emission reduction tires brakes was developed part Zero Emission Drive Unit Generation-1 (ZEDU-1) project. This novel concept includes removal tire road wear particles (TRWP) strong ventilation/filtering system enclosed multi-disk brake, making it suitable tool for investigation non-exhaust emissions. Particle number (PN) particle size distribution (PSD) measurements down 2.5 nm were performed on chassis dynamometer test track. Due low background concentrations dynamometer, is possible distinguish between brake characterize even small It could be shown that about 30 % less emitted by vehicle, when using instead conventional brake. The highest TRWP collected during acceleration harsh braking. Characterization scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) revealed diverse shapes differences generated

Microplastics pollution is becoming a major environmental concern for air, soil, and water. The European Union (EU) Zero Pollution Action Plan targets to reduce microplastics release the environment by 30% 2030. Tyre wear estimated be most important contributor unintentionally released environment. For this reason, new Euro 7 vehicle emission standard introduced placeholders limiting tyre abrasion. In study, we calculate from tyres using as basis recent review on factors. We also estimate impact of reducing average factors following implementation dates. Additionally, present cost savings EU such reduction over time horizon until 2050. Even though final saving estimations come with some uncertainty due lack accurate up-to-date factors, especially heavy-duty vehicles, introduction limits has significant positive under all scenarios examined.
