Abstract Understanding the interactions between dissolved organic matter (DOM) and nutrient behavior during cyanobacterial events has important implications for water management. Therefore, we constructed a simulated growth decline experiment, measured changes in DOM nitrogen phosphorus fluxes at sediment–water interface (SWI), examined effects of on components release. Results 3D fluorescence spectroscopy showed that fluorescent sediment overlying comprised microbially derived humic-like C1, terrestrially C2, tyrosine-like C3, tryptophan-like C4. From initial to blooms phase, C3 C4 increased due formation release extracellular algal-derived matter. During decline, protein-like from settling algae. The rapid increase stage indicated promoted sediments through mineralization Fe/Al-P transformation. High ammonium occurred mainly sediments. Redundancy analysis were primarily associated with loss ignition into water. This study provides fresh perspectives associations strong internal pollution Graphical

The littoral zones of lakes are potential hotspots for local algal blooms and biogeochemical cycles; however, the microbial communities within sediments eutrophic plateau remain poorly understood. Here, we investigated taxonomic composition, co-occurrence networks, functional roles both abundant rare taxa bacterial archaeal communities, as well physicochemical parameters, in from Erhai Lake, a mesotrophic lake transitioning towards eutrophy located Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that were dominated by Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Chloroflexi, while Euryarchaeota was main phylum. Co-occurrence network analysis keystone mainly belonged to species domain, but over half species, demonstrating their fundamental persistence. contributed substantially overall abundance (81.52%), whereas smaller subset accounted up 82.70% abundance. Functional predictions highlighted divergence metabolic potentials, with sub-communities enriched pathways nitrogen cycling, sulfur chlorate reduction, linked carbon cycling processes such methanotrophy. Abundant exhibited high methanogenesis, chemoheterotrophy, dark hydrogen oxidation. Spearman correlation showed genera
