ABSTRACT Aquaculture diseases caused by pathogens such as Vibrio spp., amplified the emergence of antibiotic resistance, threaten aquaculture industry. Due to its critical role in regulating expression genes related resistance and virulence, quorum sensing (QS) was proved be an ideal target disease control. In this study, we investigated effects alkaloid piperine on QS system a fish pathogenic harveyi strain. vitro assays showed that inhibits biofilm formation V. without affecting their growth. Moreover, specifically reduced activity , evident inhibition bioluminescence, likely through AI‐2 pathway. Molecular docking simulations significant binding energies between proteins—LuxP, LuxQ, LuxR LuxS—revealing competitive inhibitory against LuxP, LuxR, LuxS, non‐competitive interactions with LuxQ. This study demonstrated elucidated mechanism action QS, implying potential application systems.

ABSTRACT Shrimp is a commercially important species in several regions and among the key global aquaculture commodities essential for food production security. Similar to most shrimp‐producing countries, shrimp Malaysia suffers from recurring disease outbreaks that consequently impact overall economy. The use of antimicrobial agents, particularly antibiotics, prophylactic treatment growth enhancement has increased spread antimicrobial‐resistant bacteria aquatic environment. development dissemination other potential sources contamination waterways are facilitated by continuous application antibiotics farming, municipalities, livestock, hospitals pharmaceutical sources. This situation contributes resistance (AMR) phenomenon, One Health issue with detrimental effects on human animal health as well Addressing risks associated AMR remains highly challenging due intensification farming trends, which heightens outbreaks, limited availability alternatives many farmers seeking prevent crop failure. In this review, we critically examine issues related explore emerging strategies. Our analysis encompasses comprehensive review existing literature Malaysia, alternative mitigation strategies aimed at fostering more sustainable resilient practices.
