Mangrove ecosystems, critical intertidal zones at the land–ocean interface, are increasingly recognized for their role in microplastic (MP) pollution dynamics. Despite extensive research on interaction of MPs with various chemical contaminants, specific contamination levels polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) associated mangroves remain poorly understood. In this study, we quantified concentrations PCBs extracted from representative mangrove sediment samples across China, revealing values ranging 9.80 to 13.91 ng/g. contrast, PCB were found vary between 25.67 and 69.85 Our findings indicate a consistent level different sites, although these marginally elevated compared those surrounding sediments. Notably, Penta-PCBs detected highest frequency all analyzed. This study provides crucial insights into occurrence distribution within ecosystem, highlighting significance environmental assessments.
